Annapurna Sanctuary - Jan to May / Sept to December
Click on photo above to view more Photos »
The Annapurna Sanctuary / Base camp trek is a hike into the dazzling natural amphitheatre formed by the staggeringly beautiful peaks of the giants - Annapurna 1, Glacier Dome, Gangapurna, Fang and the fishtail peak of Machapuchare. Although there is only one entrance to the sanctuary itself, we follow locally known, lesser-used approaches and exit routes on our premier Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. The trail takes you through fascinating traditional villages of Nepal’s ethnic communities of the Gurung, Magar, and Thakali who will greet you very warmly if you cared to stop for a conversation. The hike continues through dense rhododendron forest with towering snowy peaks in the background. The return walk is even more interesting as the trek winds around different ridges towards Ghorepani, where you witness breathtaking views of an early morning sunrise where a red halo seeps through glistening gaps over the snow capped peaks of the Annapurna & Dhaulagiri Mountains. The sceneries seen throughout this trek grace the landscape of the Himalayas where imagination defines the beauty of nature as an experience that can never be forgotten.
The Annapurna Base Camp trek will be even more interesting in spring as the whole forest along the trail turns red, pink and white with rhododendron flowers. This wonder trip can be done anytime of the year except during the monsoons [July thru August].

Our representative and driver will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. At the hotel, you will be briefed about your daily activities.

Day 2: Sight Seeing in Kathmandu

This morning we will take a walk down to the famous Durbar Square, just 30 minutes from the hotel. This is also home to the Kumari, or Living Goddess, who can sometimes be seen as she peers shyly from her temple surroundings. There's just so much to see and take in on your first day, so we have left most of it free for you to explore in small groups.

Day 3: Fly to Pokhara to Birethati

Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara and drive the pleasant riverside village of Birethanti(1000m), at the edge of the Annapurna trekking region

Day 4: BANTHANTI (2,300m)

Our first day on the trail, we trek through oak and rhododendron forests and follow the Bhurungdi Khola (river) to Banthanti.

We continue along the Bhurungdi Khola and ascend Ulleri Hill, eventually arriving at Ghorepani where there are perfect views of the Annapurna range.

From west to east you can see Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, Dhampus Peak, Nilgiri, Annapurnas and Machapuchare - breathtaking! We then continue to Tadapani, trekking through open grassland and deep forests. On the way there are excellent views of Annapurna South and the Manaslu range.

Today, we have a steep descent through rhododendron forest to the valley bottom, with fabulous mountain views. Later the path climbs steeply again before we arrive at the lively trekking hub of Chomrong.

Day 8: DOBAN (2,500m)

Our trail descends on a stone staircase and crosses the Chomrong Khola before climbing through deep rhododendron and bamboo forests to Doban.

The goal today is to pass through the gates of the sanctuary. We trek up the muddy surface of the Modi Khola, then along a rocky trail to Hinku cave. From here we climb towards the base camp of Machapuchare. There are stupendous views of the Hiunchuli, Annapurna I & III, Gangapurna and Machapuchare, the 'fish tail' mountain peak
